At George Spicer, we use the Jigsaw approach to PSHE which brings together Personal, Social and Health Education, emotional literacy, social skills and spiritual development in a comprehensive scheme of learning. Teachers are able to tailor lessons to their children’s needs and to enjoy building a relationship with their class, getting to know them better as unique human beings.
Our PSHE curriculum has clear and sequenced topics which means pupils can build their knowledge securely. All pupils should be given opportunities in every lesson to practise, demonstrate and improve their oracy skills.
We are completely transparent with parents and send out information sheets detailing the learning intentions and the vocabulary being covered for each unit. Any queries are dealt with promptly.
We have a comprehensive and up to date policy, which outlines clearly statutory requirements when it comes to the teaching of Relationships and Sex Education across our school.
