  • School Meals

Lunchtime is an important part of a child's school day. It gives children time to sit and socialise with their friends and promotes healthy eating. Our meals are prepared on site by Aspens Catering Services and our menus work on a 3 week cycle with plenty of variety every day.

Research shows that children who have a nutritionally balanced meal are better able to concentrate on lessons.

Here are five reasons why school meals are excellent.

    1. School meals are delicious, healthy, varied, safe and FREE.
    2. Our catering team is fully trained and ready to cater for children with allergies.
    3. Save you hours making packed lunches.
    4. Children receiving Free School Meals have exactly the same choice.
    5. Encourage good eating habits from an early age and further develop social skills as they sit with friends.

    UIFSM

All children in Reception, Year 1 and 2 are entitled to Universal Infant Free School Meals. Since 2014, all children in EY and KS1 have been entitled to a hot meal.

    UFSM

All children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 are entitled to Universal Free School Meals. The Mayor of London has implemented a Universal Free School Meals policy for all primary school children in state-funded schools in London. This initiative aims to support families struggling with the cost of living by ensuring that children receive a nutritious meal during term time.

    FSM

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 at state schools in England automatically get UIFSM. However, parents and guardians are encouraged to apply for Free School Meals when they enrol their child in school or when their income changes or they are entitled to universal credit, as this attracts additional "Pupil Premium" funding to support learning.

From Year 3 onwards, children whose parents are getting any of the following are entitled to Free School Meals.

    • Income Support
    • Income-Based Job Seeker's Allowance
    • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
    • Child Tax Credit - (with no Working Tax Credit) with an annual income that does not exceed £16,190
    • If you are supported under  Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
    • Guaranteed element of Pension Credit
    • Working Tax Credit during the four-week period immediately after your employment finishes or after you start to work less hours per week
    • Universal Credit with an annual net earned income of no more than £7,400 (£616.67 per month)

    Packed lunches

Facilities are available for children to bring a packed lunch. However, we encourage all children to have a hot school meal. If you are sending your child a packed lunch, parents should pack a healthy selection of food, including fruit and water. As part of the school's Healthy London Schools status, we ask that no sugary drinks, chocolate, sweets, or cakes be included in children's packed lunches.

Packed lunches are monitored and parents may be contacted if packed lunches do not meet the Healthy Schools criteria.

We are a Nut Free school

No items containing nuts should be brought onto the premises due to severe allergies of both staff and children.
