Reception
Primrose – Esme – The First Hippo on the Moon by David Walliams. I like when the hippo falls on the other hippo on the moon. It makes me laugh when Shelia steals the other hippo’s rocket. It is a funny book.
Daffodil – Cooper – How to Grow a Dinosaur by Carl Hart. He looked out the window and the garden was full of dinosaurs. I like it when he throws the seeds on the ground without even looking.
Bluebell – Daniel – The Troll by Julia Donaldson – My favourite part is the end because Hank Chief shows the troll the fish but he doesn’t want to eat it. I like Percy Patch, he wears an eye patch.
Snowdrop – Jakub – The Tigon and the Liger by Keilly Swift – The whole story is really nice, he meets his mum. They play together really nicely with the mum and the baby.
Year 1
Willow Class – Katie – Katie and the Dinosaur by James Matthews – I chose this book because there is a secret door and I don’t know what’s behind it! I like dinosaur and it has my name in it.
Elm Class – Zara – Stone Age by Klint Janulis – I like this book because I like learning about the stone age. They were nomadic and used stone tools.
Oak Class – Miryam – Peppa Plays Football by Peppa Pig – My favourite character is Peppa and I like playing football like Peppa.
Ash Class – Who’s Afraid of the Dark by Melanie Joyce
Amelie - I like when the owl was hooting because she was calling for her babies.
Deniz – I liked when the owl got scared because the bats were coming.
Year 2
Sparrow Class – Niko – Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K Rowling - My favourite part was when Ron and Harry crushed into the whomping willow. My favourite characters are Ron and Hermione because Ron is funny and Hermione is clever. You should read this book because it is funny, scary and sometimes dangerous! It has good detail and I love the magic spells.
Owl Class – Claryana – The Butterfly Club by Jacqueline Wilson – I like this book because it has butterflies in it and I love their colourful wings. I like the character Tina because she is shy but brave when she starts a new school. You need to read this book if you love butterflies, nature and gardens.
Robin Class – Harry – James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl – I love this cook as it has lots of funny characters. I like James because he is adventurous. Read this book if you love hero stories and magic!
Woodpecker Class – Sophia – Just Narwhal by Rosie Greening. I like this book because it is set under the sea. My favourite character is Star because she looks like me! You should read this book if you like a happy ending.
Year 3
Cheyenne Class - Isabella - Fing by David Walliams. I recommend this book because it is full of amazing charters such as, Mr meek, Mrs meek and Myrtle meek. Also, Fing. I love this book because Myrtle gets stuck in a swamp and turns into a monster. (Sorry for spoiling). It's amazing. Hope you like it.
Year 4
Theseus Class – Davina - Pig Heart Boy by Malorie Blackman. I like this book because it has depth to it and really makes you feel what the main character is going through in a traumatic life or death situation. A certain part of the book also taught me that you cannot trust everyone, even if they are your closest friend. Also, I like that although the main character is facing death, he still tries to create memories for his sibling that has not even been born yet. It shows that he is genuine and loves his family. I believe that someone who likes drama and heartache, but also some comedy, would really enjoy this book, I would definitely recommend it!
Year 5
Osiris Class – Georgia - The Diamond Brothers in… The Falcon’s Malteser by Anthony Horowitz. I like the book because it is very descriptive and I enjoy reading it. I think this is suitable for children aged 9 and up.
Ra Class- Zeeshan - Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo. It's a very adventurous book with a great story line. Michael because he shows determination to get back to his family. Mainly people who like books with stories that have a deeper meaning.
Thoth Class -Mahdka - The Railway Girls by Leah Fleming. I like this book because it is about a revolution and how three women, Ellie, Ezra and Beth, have to fight for everything. The kind of reader that would like this book is someone who loves adventure and mystery.
Anubis Class – Dean - Diary of a Wimpy Kid series by Jeff Kinney. I like the book because it is funny.
My favourite character is Greg Heffly. Read this book if you like comedy.
Year 6
Hurricanes Class - Alex – Scythe by Neal Shusterman. I like this book as it gets more interesting the more you read it. Scythe Faraday as he is very wise like Mr Combe. I would recommend it to anyone who likes fiction or adventure books.
Lancasters Class - Rae- Wonder by R J Palacio. This is a good book because it is all about a boy August and he has a deformed face, and he covers it up with a rocket helmet so that no one can see it. The book tells a really good story as it gives the message that no matter what you look like, it doesn't really mean anything nor change anything. August is my favourite character as he is so nice and is caring. Anyone can read this book as it is amazing, and it delivers a good message.
Spitfires Class - Amanda - Awful Auntie by David Walliams. What I like about the book is that a courageous girl names Stella was kidnapped by her own Auntie but since she is a smart little girl, she was able to escape. But then her Auntie captured her again. My favourite character is Stella Saxby as she is so brave, courageous and smart, and always does the right thing. I would recommend this book to children, maybe to younger children that go to school as I think they will also like it.
Defiants Class - Melina - Once by Morris Gleitzman. This book is about a boy in an Orphanage who is a Jew. His parents put him there because the Nazi's had put his family in danger. His name is Felix. We warm to Felix as he has a vivid imagination and is kind and supportive to his friends Dodie and Jankiel. The author really makes us warm to Felix because he is so naive and innocent.
