Reception

Maths, money and Happy Puzzle

This week, Reception had the pleasure of welcoming Happy Puzzle for an engaging Maths workshop. The children developed their cooperative skills while honing their problem-solving abilities. Their reflections on money were particularly insightful. Adam stated, "Money is important because we can buy something." Georgie added, "You can get money from the hole in the wall," referring to cash machines. Iziyah remarked, "Coins are shiny and we take them to the shops," highlighting their understanding of currency. It was a wonderful experience that enriched their mathematical understanding while fostering collaborative learning.

Year 1

This week in Year 1 we have been making crowns using clay. We have been learning about Queen Elizabeth I and Queen Elizabeth II and as part of this learning we designed and made our own crowns. The children used different tools to cut, roll and create patterns on their crowns.

Asya- My crown has different patterns on it I made the patterns with the tools.

Daniel- I pinched the top and bottom to help the clay stick together.

Ivana- I made triangles and then stuck the triangles on top of the crown.

Year 2

Year 2 have had a wonderful time in PE over the last few weeks. For our dance unit, we have been focussing on Mary Poppins and London. This also links to our Literacy Tree book 'A Walk in London'. The children have been exploring different characters in the Mary Poppins story and moving to the music. We have learnt a 'box step' and have been working in pairs to create routines based on the story.

Year 3

This week, year 3 have enjoyed learning to tell the time. They had lots of opportunities to use hands-on resources and it was lovely to see them working together to solve word problems.

In Science, the children have been learning about plants. They have enjoyed learning about parts of a flower and explaining wind and animal pollination. If you are lucky over the next few weeks, you might see some birds or insects pollinating the flowers around Enfield!

In addition, this week they have also celebrated Maths Week with the main theme being around money. They learnt where money comes from, how to use it sensibly as well as role-playing shopkeepers and having to calculate a range of shopping items in a given time. However, the highlight was definitely the Maths Happy Puzzle Workshop. The children were engaged with all the mathematical tricks and games that took place!

Year 4

Year 4 children went to the British Museum last week. It was so lovely to see the Ancient Greek Ionic columns and freezes as well as all the Ancient Egyptian tombs and statues. We had our lunch in front of the museum, which gave us the most beautiful view. 'I enjoyed looking at the Parthenon section as we learnt about this a few weeks ago' Joy. On Friday, we went to Bush Hill Park for some observational drawings and team games.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week!

Year 4 Residential Camp Adventure

Last week, some of our Year 4 children attended their first school residential to Cuffley Camp — and what a fantastic experience it was! The children did themselves and the school incredibly proud, showing outstanding resilience, passion, and determination throughout the entire trip.

From construction and low ropes to climbing and the thrilling nightline, every activity was tackled with enthusiasm and teamwork. Evenings were filled with laughter and music around the campfire, where songs were sung, and marshmallows were toasted. A special highlight was a lovely singing session with Miss Heley!

It was a joy to see the children having so much fun while supporting one another every step of the way. Well done to all who took part — we are so proud of you!

Year 5

The past fortnight in Year 5, has been rich with activities, discussions and workshops; we have been kept busy with all our curriculum topics and enjoyed developing our skills in the core subjects too. In History last week, we enjoyed creating our own female pharaoh fact-files. We admired the talent, strength and resilience these incredible women had; breaking the mould and paving the way for future female leaders. Here are some of our incredible fact-files...

This week, we have thoroughly enjoyed participating in Maths Week London. During this week, we learnt how to be sensible and safe with money (learning about loans and budgets), competed against other London Schools on Sumdog Maths Challenge and enjoyed developing our problem-solving skills during the Happy Puzzle Company Maths Workshops. We are so proud of how well the classes worked as a team; showing tremendous communication, encouragement, resilience and perseverance. It was a real pleasure to see all our children pitting their wits, against what were some really tricky puzzles!

Year 6

Last week, our Year 6 pupils enjoyed a fantastic trip to the RAF Museum in Hendon, where they explored an incredible collection of historic aircraft and deepened their understanding of World War II. The children were amazed by the size and variety of planes on display, including iconic models such as the Spitfire and the Lancaster Bomber. Their behaviour throughout the day was exceptional, and they represented the school with pride and enthusiasm. A highlight of the visit was a hands-on workshop where they learned about life during the war. They discovered how people coped with blackouts, rationing, and air raids, and even had the chance to try on real RAF uniforms. It was a brilliant opportunity to bring their history learning to life and sparked lots of thoughtful discussion. A huge well done to Year 6 for their curiosity, maturity, and brilliant questions throughout the day!

Year 6 Boys' and Girls' Football Teams

Well done to the Year 6 Boys' and Girls' football teams who represented the school at the Tottenham Hotspur Football Festival, held at the Spurs training ground. This was an incredible opportunity for the children to play on a Premier League standard pitch and the children conducted themselves impeccably. The boys won 2 matches and drew 1, whilst the girls won 2 matches and lost 1. Overall, it was a great performance from all the players. Special congratulations to Rio who was recognised as the Player of the Tournament.

Borough Athletics Competition

Very well done to all of the children who took part in this year's Borough Athletics competition. As always, the standard was incredibly high. We performed well and finished a respectable 5th out of 14 schools. Special congratulations to Gabriella from Year 6 and Jeremy from Year 4 on winning their hurdles race as well as the Year 5 boys 4x100m relay team who also secured 1st place.

Maths Week London

We have all thoroughly enjoyed participating in Maths Week London 2025 this week, our focus has been on being 'money-wise' and looking after our economic well-being. We have carried out a diverse range of Maths-related activities, in and out of the classroom. Reception and KS1 enjoyed participating in the Happy Puzzle Company Workshops and being 'money-wise' in class; using coins to purchase items in a shop and knowing how best to save money as 'future savers'. They have also enjoyed looking at different deals and exploring how to get the best deal at the GSPS 'fair', looking at half-price offers and buy-one get-one free deals. Here are some photos of the children enjoying themselves...

In KS2, pupils once again enjoyed participating in the Happy Puzzle Company Workshops this week. The children worked extremely hard to solve some really tricky puzzles and problems. They worked together to solve jigsaw puzzles, break codes, spot and continue patterns of number, shape and colour and use their problem solving and logic-based skills to 'break-out' of complex scenarios. In classes, pupils enjoyed carrying out practical lessons and gaining knowledge on how to make sensible, shrewd decisions with money whilst looking after their economic well-being. Online, the children competed against other schools in the Maths Week London Sumdog Contest. Here are some exciting pictures from the week...
